Mycoses are diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms (fungi).The disease does not pose a fatal threat to humans, but causes discomfort and is difficult to treat.People with weak immune systems, hormonal imbalances and those who do not adhere to personal hygiene rules are most often susceptible to infections.Treatment of a fungus sometimes takes 3-4 months and is carried out with a whole range of medications.To enhance the therapeutic effect of medications, doctors prescribe traditional medicine recipes.The key to successful treatment is timely diagnosis of the disease.In the early stages, mycoses react more easily to antimycotics.
Types and symptoms of dermatomycosis
Science knows thousands of species of fungi, but only a few hundred of them are pathogenic for humans.

Types of microorganisms causing mycosis of the feet:
- trichophytons;
- dermatophytes;
- Candida.
The first signs of mycosis are quite difficult to recognize.What fungus looks like on the feet depends on the type of microorganism that affects the soft tissue.
Intertriginous form
The most common type of fungal infection.It occurs in summer when feet sweat.First, the folds in the interdigital space suffer, later the infection spreads to surrounding areas and the nail plate.
First signs:
- dry skin between fingers;
- cracks and wounds;
- severe itching and burning;
- Peeling and discoloration of the epidermis.
Squamous cell carcinoma form
This type of fungal infection affects the bottom of the foot.The skin looks rough, calluses, callused areas and deep cracks appear.When walking, a person feels pain.
The disease progresses quickly and affects the surrounding area and the nail plate.In advanced cases, the nail changes color and shape and begins to collapse.
Important!
If you suspect a fungal infection for the first time, you should see a doctor immediately for evaluation and treatment.
Dyshidrotic form
This type of mushroom is rare.The first symptoms are watery multi-chambered blisters with cloudy contents on the skin.In place of the ruptured formations, ulcers appear, which unite to form continuous erosions.

The main danger of this form of mycosis is the addition of concomitant infections.Pathogenic microorganisms penetrate the wounds and cause other dermatological diseases.Without timely treatment, large areas of the legs are affected.It becomes very difficult to cure mycosis.
Reasons
The main route of transmission of an infection is contact.If basic personal hygiene rules are not followed, infection may occur through household items used by the patient.Peeling particles of the epidermis, together with the causative agent of the disease, remain on shoes, towels and in the places where the infected person is.As soon as the fungus is on the surface of the skin of a healthy person, it begins to actively multiply.
Spores of a pathogenic microorganism can survive in the environment for many months until they reach favorable conditions.There is a great risk of infection in public places - swimming pools, showers, baths, saunas, locker rooms in gyms.
To avoid infection, the rules of hygiene must be followed: change your socks every day, wear comfortable shoes in which your feet do not sweat, and after washing, dry the space between your fingers well with a towel.
Treatment of fungus with medication
An important factor in eliminating skin mycoses is a completed examination and the timely start of the treatment prescribed by the doctor.
Getting rid of fungus is quite difficult.A full range of external and systemic medications will be required.First you need to determine the type of pathogen.This can only be done in a specialized laboratory.
Ointments, creams
This type of medicine has a high ability to penetrate deep into the affected tissue and reach the mycelium.
Antifungal ointments are divided into two types:
- Azole.Suppresses cell growth and destroys mycelium.Treatment with azole ointments usually lasts about a month;
- Allylamine.Has a harmful effect on yeast and mold.This type of ointment has antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects.Refers to inexpensive, effective means.The duration of therapy is usually 3 months.
Benefits of ointments:
- no harmful effects on the gastrointestinal tract and liver;
- Local application allows for maximum effect on the pathogen.
- Versatile for treating skin and nail fungus.
Features of the use of antifungal ointments:
- Before using medication, feet should be thoroughly washed and dried with a towel.
- the drug is applied in a thin layer to the affected surface using rubbing movements;
- avoid getting the medicine on the mucous membranes – nose, eyes, mouth;
- Follow the instructions for use and the dermatologist's recommendations.
Tablets
For more effective treatment of advanced mycoses, systemic therapy is prescribed along with external topical medications.
Tablets for the treatment of severe forms differ in their active ingredients:
- Based on ketoconazole.Prescribed for the treatment of superficial mycoses that cannot be treated with topical agents.Destroys yeasts, dimorphic fungi and dermatophytes;
- Based on terbinafine.Acts on dermatophytes;
- Based on griseofulvin.Acts on dermatophytes.Prevents the reproduction of fungi and destroys cell walls.This drug has increased toxicity, which is why modern medicine is gradually ousting it from the pharmacological market.
- Based on fluconazole.The tablets belong to the azole group.Helps to quickly get rid of the disease.
In addition to treating fungal infections of the feet, drugs to strengthen the immune system and vitamin-mineral complexes are prescribed to better fight the disease.
Treatment at home with folk remedies
Removing the fungus using alternative medical recipes is only possible in the early stages or in combination with medicines.
Important!
Before you start self-treatment at home, you should undergo an examination and consult a doctor.
iodine
The universal antiseptic has not only a bactericidal effect, but also an antifungal effect.It is recommended to lubricate the affected areas at night.A sensitivity test must be carried out before the procedure.To do this, apply a small amount of iodine to the crook of your elbow.If after a few hours there is no redness of the skin, burning or itching, you can use this method.Before going to bed, take a foot bath, then wipe the skin thoroughly with a terry towel.To avoid chemical burns, iodine must be diluted 1:1 with medical alcohol.Using a cotton swab, apply a thin layer of the solution evenly to the areas affected by the fungus.Cotton socks are worn over this.Nail plates are also treated for prevention.
You can make an effective iodine-based “chatterbox”:
- Grind 14 antifungal tablets into a powder;
- Mix with 100 ml of 1% Dimexide and leave in a dark place for a day;
- Add 10 ml of iodine and vinegar essence.
Store the resulting mixture in the refrigerator and stir thoroughly before using.It should be applied to the affected skin areas 1-2 times a day with a cotton swab.The duration of treatment is 1 month.
Hydrogen peroxide
Another well-known antiseptic that helps fight athlete's foot.The solution is used in the form of applications to problem areas.Ten minutes twice a day is enough to overcome early stage mycoses in 5-10 days.
Foot steam baths with added peroxide are considered useful.It is diluted 1:1 with water.Although the solution is small, it is enough to place the affected part of the foot in it.The process takes 30-40 minutes.The liquid should not come into contact with healthy skin as it dries out the soft tissue significantly.
Celandine
The medicinal plant successfully treats many skin diseases, including mycoses.Decoctions are used for compresses and baths.If you get a freshly harvested plant, you can try to cure the fungus with fresh juice.
To do this, pick the bush and wash it under running water.Prepare the feet by steaming and removing scales.Yellow juice appears on the stem cut.They lubricate the affected surfaces.Extreme caution should be exercised when self-treating with celandine at home.This plant is poisonous.Its sap can cause severe skin burns.
For steaming, prepare a broth of 5 tbsp.l.Herbs for 1 liter.boiling water The solution is infused into a container with a tightly closed lid for 20 minutes.This is followed by a foot bath.
Apple cider vinegar
An acidic environment in which it cannot reproduce and exist will help remove the fungus.Apple cider vinegar is used in the form of foot steam baths and applications.
If the affected area is small, it is enough to soak a cotton pad or a piece of cotton fabric with an aggressive substance.If it spreads over a large area, healthy areas of the skin are greased with a rich baby cream to protect them and a sock soaked in vinegar is put on.
It is used to acidify water for foot baths.After steaming, the skin is thoroughly dried and other medicines of natural origin or pharmaceutical preparations are applied.
Other home treatments
Traditional medicine offers various tips for eliminating fungus and its manifestations.Such products are easy to prepare yourself from ingredients that are available in every household.
Homemade ointments:
- Mix equal proportions of yellow sulfur, copper sulfate and goose fat in an enamel container.Bring to a boil over low heat and pour into a glass.The ointment is stored in the refrigerator.Apply daily to the affected skin areas morning and evening;

- Mix butter with chopped garlic.Apply the resulting mass to the affected skin overnight.
Ointments prepared according to traditional medicine recipes have a positive effect only in the initial stages of the disease.In advanced mycoses they are used in combination with tablet medications.
Compressed:

- Onion garlic.A medium onion and 2 cloves of garlic are mashed into a paste.The mixture is spread over the skin in a thick layer, covered with a plastic bag and secured with a bandage.A cotton sock is pulled over the top.The procedure is carried out before bedtime.In the morning, the compress is removed and the feet are washed with warm water and soap.This method helps to cope with the disease in 7-10 days;
- Celandine with tea tree oil.1 tbsp.l.Crushed herbs are mixed with oil to form a paste-like mass.It is applied generously to the area where the fungus is localized and isolated, as in the previous recipe;

- Pour two liters of boiling water over a herbal mixture: 2 tbsp.l.Chamomile flowers, horsetail, linseed.After cooling to a tolerable temperature, you should steam your feet in the resulting broth for 15 minutes.
Prevention
It is easier to prevent a disease than to treat it.To prevent illness, you should take some precautions.
Tips to avoid infections:
- Wear natural, high-quality shoes that don't make your feet sweat;
- Wearing replaceable rubber slippers is mandatory in public places (baths, saunas, showers, swimming pools, changing rooms);
- Use personal shoes only.
- support immunity.
Athlete's foot is an insidious disease.It's fairly easy to get infected with it, but difficult to get rid of.Usually people start the disease because mycosis does not appear immediately.You should pay attention to your body and seek medical help at the first suspicious symptoms.
